"Walk up" fares are always more expensive than booking in advance, but you can also order advance tickets at stations or through national rail.

Trainline.com has saved me many pounds. You have to plan and persevere. But better than just going to a station and asking for a "simple" return.

"All I wanted was to pay the extra on the ticket I'd bought in error, I didn't want a refund but they wanted to charge me a tenner PLUS the extra. I think that's a tad unreasonable but I guess because I'm a 'leftie cunt' I get all I deserve...."

No Ray you've got it wrong. It's because you're a 'leftie cunt' that you feel entitled to change your ticket and not pay for an employed persons time to listen to an idiot and issue new tickets...

Mate oop north?

Could he not book it himself on account of THIS BASTARD TORY GOVERNMENT starving everywhere outside the M25 of investment, meaning he has no internet...or electricity, decent housing, health care and job?

Do you have the dog with the fact you have to speak to an Indian or pay £10 to do, Raymond?

Re: Thetrainline.com
No, a company stinking would be to, say, for example, send you a different ticket to which you'd booked then refuse to deal with it without asking for more money, or leaving you severely out of pocket through no fault of your own.

The only thing stinking here is your attitude at the audacity of them to not give you special treatment after YOU made a mistake.

Do you find it this hard to accept responsibility for your actions on a regular basis?

Re: Thetrainline.com
mim, I've dealt with other companies who have been very flexible, in fact, most companies who offer online services are great, this company stinks, just saying.

Re: Thetrainline.com

So you have the hump with them because their "customer values" don't stretch to waiving a pretty standard charge in your case because YOU made a mistake when booking.

Triffick.

Next time make sure you book the correct ticket and you'll avoid such an emotionally traumatic experience.

^^ haha yes ray you fuckin muppet!!

Re: Thetrainline.com
I used to use them every time I went by rail, but recently the cheapest return they could do from York to Knaresborough was around £13.

I eventually decided to go, but didn't bother to use ttl - the first fare that came up on the machine at the station was £9.25, iirc.

40% premium for using them is a bit steep. Probably not typical, but this could get me into trouble, as I've been using their fares to "prove" it's cheaper to get to places for work by car

Re: Thetrainline.com
The annoying thing is I always use the train companies directly, Virgin are great to deal with but a mate oop north asked me to sort him out a deal and I used TTL as I was out and about and used their app because it was quick.
THAT is why I have the hump with them, the money doesn't matter it's the fact that you speak to people in a distant country who don't give a fuck about circumstances or customer values.

I use https://www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk/ as no booking fee and easy to use, but as already stated you can book on any carrier regardless of journey.

Agree 100% there.

Seems that despite claiming intelligence and education, many still can't/won't grasp the nettle of personal responsibility.
